Man nearly drives into river at Owen Sound campground

A 62 year old Kitchener man has been charged after nearly driving into the Sydenham River in Harrison Park.

Owen Sound Police responded to the park's campground are 2pm on Tuesday afternoon with a report of a vehicle driving into the river.

Upon arrival,  police located a Chrysler sedan partially hanging over the riverbank with the driver attempting to reverse the car out of the position.

Police immediately detected signs of impairment and the male was arrested without incident.

He was transported to the police station where he blew over the legal limit and was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operation with over 80 mgs.

He will appear in court on September 13th to answer to the charges.

The vehicle received minor damage and was impounded for 7 days.

His licence was also suspended for 90 days under legislation.
