Car washes become targets of thieves

Car washes appear to be the latest target of thieves but at this point police have not commented on whether they think they're related. 

Grey County OPP are investigating a break in at the Chatsworth Car Wash on Thursday, March 28 in which the building was forcibly entered. 

The culprits caused damage to property and stole an undetermined amount of coins. 

They're also  investigating a break in at the Double Bubble Car Wash on Walker Street in Markdale. 

The alarm went off on Friday, March 29 at 12:30am. 

When police arrived, they discovered the business had been forcibly entered. 

Once inside, the culprits had time to cause damage to the alarm system and take the video recording device before fleeing the scene.

Meanwhile South Bruce OPP were called to Sal's Suds Car Wash located on Brock Street in Tara on Saturday March 30 at 3:22 am for a report a motion alarm.     

Police say the thieves attempted to gain entry through a window but the motion alarm was set off. 

And Owen Sound police also investigating a break in at the Sunrise Car Wash on 17th Street East. 

This one happened sometime overnight Friday. 

The culprits were able to gain entry by manipulating the lock on the buildings rear door. 

Once inside they used a cutting tool and cut their way through the rear stainless steel door to the change machine and left with a quantity of bills and coins. 

Police continue to investigate these incidents and are asking anyone with information to either call the OPP at  1-888-310-1122 or Owen Sound Police Constable Schultz at (519) 376-1234 ext. 155.
