A here's a reminder that RIDE checks can be conducted anywhere ... anytime... and obviously when some of you least expect it.

On Monday September 9th at 2:38 am, Owen Sound Police were conducting a R.I.D.E. in the 1300 block of 8th Street East near Georgian College.

Officers observed a vehicle make a U turn instead of proceeding through the R.I.D.E.

Officers followed the vehicle as it drove through residential neighbourhoods in the area.

A vehicle stop was initiated in the 1100 block of 11th Avenue East.

The male driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

He was transported to Owen Sound Police Service were breath tests were conducted which registered more than twice the legal limit.

The 30 year old Owen Sound man will appear in court later this month.

He also faces several charges under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The male party’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days.
