Death Metal Causes Joy

I've been a fan of death metal the majority of my life and throughout my time indulging in this brutal, unrelenting, aggressive form of music, I have never murdered anyone or felt an urge to act in a violent behavior...

BBC did a study on death metal too see if this ruthless type of music really does desensitize people and prompts listeners to act in a violent manner after a song like 'Eaten" by Bloodbath entered their ears. 50 non-metal fans were exposed to this music, and the study found that the music in fact did not change their behavior to go on a killing rampage.

Vocalist of the band Bloodbath was interviewed on BBC to discuss death metal more in depth and how this art form is more related to an audio version of a horror movie, a form of escapism and less emphasis on real physical harm to others.

Metalheads may look like scary greasy barbarian vampires vikings, but they are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
