    On July 1st be part of the celebrations and participate in the people parade! Start is at Princess and Barrie street, finishing in Confederation Park in front of City Hall. Don’t forget to wear red and white! Celebrations will continue in the park through the day and finish with fireworks!

  • KFPL Live Presents: Fraud Awareness

    The KFPL Live monthly speakers’ series welcomes Tom Cheel from The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC)for a presentation on Fraud Awareness. Jointly managed by the RCMP, the Competition Bureau, and the OPP, the CAFC is the central agency in Canada which collects information and criminal intelligence on such matters as mass marketing fraud, advance fee fraud, Internet fraud and identification theft complaints. In his presentation Tom will outline the most common types of fraud and how you can protect yourself. This information will be of particular use to seniors. The presentation will take place twice: Isabel Turner branch on Wednesday, June 26, at 2 p.m. and then at Sydenham branch on Thursday, June 27, at 2 p.m. There is no admission charge, but seating is limited. To avoid disappointment, please register in advance at calendar.kfpl.ca/events or by phone at (613) 549-8888 as of 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 15.

  • Operation: Stand Proud

    Operation: Stand Proud will honour our Canadian military in a BIG WAY! Leon’s Trenton, along with its Partners, will be hosting an Official Guinness World Record Attempt for Largest Human Maple Leaf as a show of appreciation for the men, women, and families, who have dedicated their lives to serving our country. They will be raising money and awareness for the Canadian Armed Forces charity, Soldier On, which inspires recovery and rehabilitation for former and serving military members through the transformative power of sport. This event is kid-friendly, family-oriented and free to the public. It will take place in Centennial Park, Quinte West, on Saturday, June 29, 2019. The current Guinness World Record is 1,589 people.   • Buck Lake Botilla 2019

    On Saturday, June 29th, 2019, the Buck Lake community will be launching their 15thAnnual Buck Lake Boatilla in support of Easter Seals’ Send a Kid to Camp campaign. The event will feature boat tours of Buck Lake, a complimentary BBQ for the community of donors and a cheque presentation. In the past 14 years, the Buck Lake Boatilla has raised more than $249,000 for Easter Seals Ontario and sent 101 kids to Easter Seals’ fully accessible Camp Merrywood.
  • Canada Day at Grass Creek Park

On Monday, July 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., play your favourite carnival games, relax on the sandy beach, swim and enjoy free family fun with the City of Kingston. All activities take place rain or shine. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair, hat, reusable water bottle and sunscreen! Inflatables, Carnival games, DJ, Colouring mural, Improbable Escapes, Slime workshop by Playtrium, Face painting & glitter tattoos, Beach and sand sculptor, Food vendors and ATM. Bring your water bottle because Utilities Kingston Water Buggy will be onsite! Fireworks at 10 p.m. at Confederation Basin. Weather-related updates for the timing of the fireworks will be posted on the City’s social media channels and on the City’s website.
