Bus Driver Subdues Unruly Passenger: Police

Police are crediting a driver with subduing an apparently unruly passenger on a Kingston Transit Bus.

Officers say a man, 29, who is charged with assault and causing a disturbance by being intoxicated, was bothering passengers on a bus traveling on Princess Street, near Midland Avenue, around 7:00 pm Monday. At one point police say he took a swing at another passenger. Eventually the driver pulled over the bus east of Midland.

Police say the driver was struck in the back of the head after asking the man to get off, before restraining him on the ground outside of the bus and waiting for police to arrive.
