Charges Laid in Deadly Prescott Bus Crash

OPP have laid charges in connection with the bus crash that killed three tourists from China.

Jai Qui, 31, from Flushing, New York is charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

On June 4, 2018, a bus filled with tourists visiting Canada from China hit a rock cut on the side of Highway 401, near Prescott. Three victims died and 34 others were injured. Most patients were transported to Brockville General and the Ottawa Queensway-Carleton Hospital, where Mandarin translators were called in to assist the victims.

Police say that charges were initially laid on November 26, 2018, however, the release of this information to the general public was delayed to allow time for all passengers to be notified.

The driver will appear in Brockville court on February 28.
