Collins Bay Locked Down After Contraband Discovery
The discovery of a package containing a significant amount of contraband items has lead to a lockdown of the Medium Security Unit at Collins Bay Instituation.
The Correctional Service of Canada says the package containing more than 2,500 grams of tobacco, 244 grams of marijuana, 55 grams of crack cocaine, a cell phone and more was found just after noon Saturday. It's believed the seized items would have had an institutional value of $85,000.
The lockdown was put in place to allow staff to conduct a general search, and visits to the medium security unit are suspended until the search is completed.
Kingston Police have been notified and the institution is investigating.
