Man Arrested in Frightening Domestic Situation

A Kingston man, 38, is charged with two counts of assault, break and enter, two counts of mischief, and four counts of breaching recognizance in connection with a terrifying ordeal in a north-end home.

Kingston Police believe the man, who had court orders to stay away from his ex-wife due to a previous domestic incident from back in the fall, broke into her home around 8:30 pm Tuesday.

Police say he went on a rampage armed with a kitchen knife, assaulting the ex-wife and another woman multiple times, even breaking down a child's bedroom door after the women locked themselves in.

The man surrendered following a lengthy negotiation with police and was taken into custody. Police say the women and children managed to escape as they arrived, though it's not clear what injuries they may have sustained.
