No Arrests After Second Day of School Threats

No arrests have been made after two straight days of threats against schools in our area.

Threats of weaponized violence were called into Marie-Rivier Catholic Secondary, LCVI, KCVI, and Holy Name Catholic School in Kingston, as well as Rideau District High School in Elgin, leading to lock downs and hold and secures, Thursday.

This happened a day after similar incidents played out at Regi, Holy Cross, and Bayridge Secondary.

Kingston Police Media Officer Cam Mack urges parents to trust their school, the school board, and the police that they are doing everything they can to make sure schools are safe.

The person behind a recently-created Twitter account is still claiming responsibility for the threats, and police are still urging everyone not to interact with the account.

Kingston Police are also asking parents to not attend any school while it is in lockdown for the safety of staff and students while officers respond to these incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kingston Police 613-549-4660. Anonymous tips can also be shared with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
