Parking Changes Coming to Breakwater Park

City council will be asked this spring to approve some changes to parking in the area of Breakwater Park.

The city says these steps are needed to accommodate the increase in visitors to the newly redeveloped park on the city's waterfront.

Some of the proposed changes including adding metered parking on the lower part of Collingwood Street, and adding two accessible parking spaces on the east side of Beverley Street near King.

"Staff will monitor these changes as we continue to understand the usage at the park and the impact on the neighbouring streets," says Marissa Mascaro, manager, parking services.

These won't be the first traffic changes in the area since the park's reopening. In December, a pedestrian-activated signal was installed on the east side of Beverley Street at King to improve safety for the increased number of pedestrians crossing to the park.
