Police Seek Person of Interest in "Grandparent Scam"
There's been another local victim of a so-called "grandparent scam."
A woman got a call back in December from someone claiming to be her son, who insisted that he needed money because he had struck a pedestrian while driving.
The woman deposited $6000 into an account so that her supposed son would be transferred to Kingston, and was asked to deposit another $4000 after that.
Police are still trying to trackdown the culprits, and encourage you to think twice before immediately depositing a large sum of money into a mysterious account for any reason.
They have released a surveillance image of a person of interest in the case. Call Police at 613-549-4660 or Crime Stopppers at 1-800-222-8477 if you have any more information about the man.
