Schools Locked Down in Response to Threats of Violence

Thankfully no one was hurt during what was a frightening day for students and parents in our city.

Kingston Police and OPP responded after threats of weaponized violence were made against three local schools- Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic, Bayridge Secondary, and Holly Cross Catholic Secondary, on Wednesday.

Local police say the first threat came in at 9:30 am to Regi, the second was phoned in to Bayridge Secondary at 11:00 am, and the final threat was called into Holy Cross at 1:00 pm.

Emergency response crews were called in to search the schools, which were placed in lock down and hold and secure as a precaution.

The person behind a recently-created Twitter account claimed responsibility for the threats, but at last check, no arrests had been made in connection with the incidents.
