401 Rollover Leads to Charges

A transport driver from Quebec has been charged with careless driving following last week's rollover on the 401 near Gardiners Road.

Just before 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, OPP say a transport hauling commercial lumber was heading westbound on Highway 401 when it lost control, went through the south side steel barriers, and rolled onto its side in a steep embankment.

Lumber had spilt onto the eastbound lanes causing the eastbound traffic to be detoured until the lumber was removed from the highway.

The driver of the transport, a man, 53, sustained only minor injuries.
