Amherstview Woman Charged with Assaulting Police Officer

An Amherstview woman, 21,  is facing charges after allegedly punching a waitress in the face and spitting on an officer.
Kingston Police were called to a west end restaurant for a report of an assault at 2:15 a.m. on August 1.

Police say an officer located the woman walking into the westbound lanes of traffic on Taylor Kidd, and positioned his cruiser to prevent her from being hit.

The accused had allegedly been drinking and she began acting erratic while attempting to resist arrest.

Concerned for their safety, the officer acted quickly to bring the accused to the ground to effect an arrest and remove her from the street.

It's alleged she spat twice in the officer's face during the arrest.
The woman was charged with assault, assault with intent to resist arrest, and assaulting police.
