Church of the Good Thief Could be Converted to Residential Housing

There is a new plan in the works for the Church of the Good Thief.

The Church closed in 2013 because upkeep was too expensive and now a developer wants to develop the property in Portsmouth Village into single-detached homes.

They have also proposed developing three lots for future residential construction.

The Church, which was built by inmates at Kingston Pen, will continue to serve as the Roman Catholic Archdiocese.

City staff are recommending council approve the project.
