City Council Pushes Province to Take Action Following Deadly Collision and Chemical Spill

City Council is asking the province to take action on transports carrying hazardous chemicals in bad weather.

Councillors approved a motion at their meeting on Tuesday to share its concerns with the Ontario Minister of Transportation.

The hope is that the provincial government will implement new safety measures for trucks carrying dangerous chemicals and other hazardous materials.

The request follows last month's fatal multi-vehicle pileup and chemical spill near Gananoque during a snow storm.
