City Council's Closed Door Meeting Policy Under Review

A review is now underway on Kingston City Council's closed door meeting policy.

An investigation, prompted by a complaint about two closed meetings in 2015 and 2017, determined the city violated the Municipal Act, when it voted to buy a parcel of land in the west end.

The plan is for city staff and councillors to be educated about when an issue must be dealt with in camera.

A report will come back to council in the new year on how the city can better handle closed door meetings.
