City Strikes Deal with Developer on Two-Building Highrise
The city has reached an agreement with Homestead Landing Holdings on two proposed downtown high rises.
The proposal would see a 19-storey building built at 51-57 Queen Street, and a 23-storey building at the corner of Queen and Ontario.
The project was originally proposed in 2016, and in 2017, Homestead took the city to the former Ontario Municipal Board, disputing that it had taken too long for the city to issue the needed approvals.
A municipal art gallery, and commercial space are also a part of the proposal and agreement reached between the city and the developer.
A report on the project will be presented to City Council at their next meeting on Tuesday, September 18.
