Contraband Seized at Collins Bay Institution

A number of unauthorized items have been seized at Collins Bay Institution.

The package was discovered early Friday afternoon on the perimeter of the minimum-security unit.

It contained 94 packages of tobacco, four boxes of rolling papers, and eight boxes of cigars.

The institutional value of the items is estimated to be just over $14,000.

Police have since been notified and an investigation is underway.

The Correctional Service of Canada introduced a complete smoking ban in all federal correctional institutions in 2008.
