Domestic Homicide Rattles West End Neighbourhood

An elderly woman was shot and killed in her west end home in what Police are calling a Domestic Homicide.

Kingston Police were called to a residence on Graceland Avenue around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, after a man called 911 to report that he had a gun.

When officers arrived on scene, the area was blocked off and nearby residents were asked not to leave their homes.

Police entered the home around 9:30 a.m, and the woman, 78, was discovered dead in an upstairs room, while her husband, 76 was found suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to hospital with critical injuries, but has since succumbed to his injuries.

A weapon was found at the scene, and police suspect the man was responsible for the injuries to both himself and his wife.

Police have yet to release the names of the deceased couple.

The investigation now falls under the jurisdiction of the Coroners office with Kingston Police assisting.
