Fairfield Manor East Under the Microscope

Kingston Fire and Rescue continue to monitor Fairfield Manor's east facility.

A notice to vacate was issued at the facilities west end location on Monday, after failing to comply with fire safety regulations.

"We continue to coordinate efforts with the LHIN to ensure the safety and security of residents at Fairfield Manor," says deputy chief Kevin Donaldson.

Fairfield Manor East has had its licence revoked and has been ordered to shut down by October 31, but the owner plans to appeal the decision.

"We've been made aware of the staffing shortages and home and community care staff members are assessing the needs of residents on a daily basis, as we look to ensure appropriate care is in place," says Cynthia Martineau, acting CEO of the South East LHIN.

Fire inspectors continue to work with the owner of the privately owned home to make sure fire-safety remains a priority for its vulnerable residents.
