Former City Councillor to Join Delegates in China

Frontenac County's new Manager of Economic Development will be traveling to China as part of a trade visit.

Richard Allen was invited by Feihe International Inc., the company that announced plans last month to build a $225 million processing, research, and development facility in the Limestone City.

Allen, a former Kingston City Councillor, will be flying out on January 8 with Mayor Bryan Patterson, members of KEDCO, and a handful of other delegates .

“There will be jobs at the facility in Kingston, jobs that can be filled by residents of Frontenac, but there will be many more opportunities,” says County of Frontenac Warden Ron Vandewal.

“For the County to be aware of those opportunities it is important to be involved right from the beginning. With our history in agriculture and proximity to Kingston we are well positioned to be part of the supply chain, for new companies to settle here and existing ones to adjust or expand."

The infant formula manufacturing company is expected to create 200 full time jobs.
