Frontenac Paramedics Raise the Alarm over Workplace Violence

Frontenac Paramedics have once again been the target of abuse.

Last Tuesday, a paramedic was threatened in public on Wolfe Island resulting in an OPP investigation.

On at least two other occasions in the past three months, paramedics were the subject of  verbal abuse.

Officials say these are not isolated incidents, saying back at the end of August two Frontenac Paramedics were threatened at knife point while responding to a call.

Frontenac Paramedic Services has zero tolerance for violence against paramedics and they are supported in their decision not to enter a scene if they don't feel safe.

Management and paramedics at Frontenac Paramedic Services are now working together to counteract a spike in violence.

A meeting with an expert on workplace violence is planned for next week, for consultation and training on risk assessment in public venues.
