Hazardous Material Spill at St. Lawrence College
A hazmat team was called to St. Lawrence College late Thursday afternoon following a chemical spill.
20 students were in class at the time and five were exposed directly to the spill involving mercury.
Kingston Fire and Rescue were called to the scene just after 5:00 p.m.
Although the affected students were decontaminated using a water wash, and appeared to suffer no other injuries, they were sent to hospital as a precaution.
The spill was cleaned up by a local hazmat response team and there was no damage to the environment.
