KFL&A Public Health Hosts Information Workshop on Opioids

KFL&A Public Health will host an Opioid Information Night for parents and caregivers at LCVI Tuesday night.

The event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with displays from community partners before an official presentation gets underway at 7:00 p.m.

Illicit fentanyl, a highly potent opioid, has been confirmed in our area in a variety of fake prescription pills and other street drugs, such as cocaine, crystal meth, heroin, and marijuana.

"There has never been a more important time to discuss the risks of drug use in our community," says Dr. Kieran Moore, Associate Medical Officer of Health at KFL&A Public Health.

"Illicit opioids are a significant risk to youth, where the first pill taken can be their last."

A panel of health professionals will give parents an in depth look at the powerful drug, a lesson on Naloxone Kits and will also discuss how to keep your kids safe.
