Kingston Soldier Sentenced to One Year in Jail

A Kingston Soldier has been sentenced to a year behind bars after he pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography, internet luring and inviting a person under 18 to engage in sexual touching.

Master Corporal Patrick Lachance, 41, was corresponding with a Quebec girl, 13, whose mom went to police after she found sexually graphic texts and inappropriate photos from Lachance on her daughter's iPad.

A female sergeant with Quebec's cyber crime unit posing as a 14 year-old girl eventually made contact with Lachance, who ended up also sending her sexually suggestive pictures.

Lachance has been released from the military and once he gets out of prison will be on probation for two years, with a ban not to possess weapons or consume alcohol.

Lachance will also be put on the sex offender information registry for life and he'll be barred for five years from places where young people hang out like public parks and community centres.
