Man Charged with Sexual Assault from 1999

A man from Hagar, 51, is facing a charge in an alleged sexual assault dating back to 1999.
Kingston Police say the incident happened when the man and his common-law partner returned home from a concert and a night of drinking.
It's alleged that when his partner fell asleep, the man woke up her sister, covered her mouth with his hand to prevent her from crying out, and sexually assaulted her.
They say the alleged assault was reported to them in September of last year, and a warrant was issued for the man's arrest.

He was located during a traffic stop in Sudbury late last week, and arrested.

Kingston Detectives attended the Northbay OPP detachment and took custody of the accused.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing.

The man was charged with sexual assault.
