Man Punches Stranger on Downtown Street

A Kingston man, 30, of no fixed address, has been arrested after allegedly punching a stranger in the face.

Police say on Sunday around 2:30 p.m., the victim and some friends were walking on Wellington Street near Barrack when a man eyeballed the victim and punched him in the face for no apparent reason.

Police were called and the man was located on King Street near Queen Street.

When the officer told the man to stop and take his hands out of his pocket, he kept on walking.

The man was taken into custody but initially refused to identify himself.

He was charged with assault, obstruct police and breach of probation.

The victim suffered minor injuries.
