National Training Accademy for CSC to be Completed in 2024

Kingston will soon be home to the National Training Academy for Corrections Canada.

On Friday, MP Mark Gerretsen announced that the facility will be built on the grounds of the Collins Bay Institution in Kingston.

The Academy was previously was located in Regina at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Depot.

The interim training facility opened last month at the Correctional Service of Canada's learning and development Centre on Union Street.

The academy has 26 full time trainers on site, and attracts about 128 recruits for each 18 week training session.

Construction is expected to begin in 2021 and be completed in 2024.
