NDP Nominate Ian Arthur as Candidate for Kingston and the Islands
Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath will be joined by the newly minted NDP candidate for Kingston and the Islands at a press conference Friday at 10:00 a.m. outside Kingston General Hospital, to discuss the party's campaign priorities.
The party held a nomination meeting in memorial hall Thursday night, and selected Ian Arthur to represent the party in the June 7 provincial election.
Ian, who grew up on a small farm north-east of Kingston, is the Executive Chef at Chez Piggy, and has become a leader for Kingston’s farm to table movement.
He believes health care must be public and accessible, that hydro must be affordable, that we must provide living wages for all people, and we must build a thriving economy with good jobs available to all.
Ian attended Sydenham High School before studying International Development and Political Science at Trent University.
Ian spent his third year living and studying in Ghana, where he interned with the Canadian High Commission in Accra.
Between 2014 and 2016, Ian was a member of the KFL&A Food Policy Council.
