Federal Government to Invest $2M to upgrade Kingston Via Rail Station
The Government of Canada will invest $2-million to improve the VIA Rail Station in Kingston.
The money will be used for repairs to the station’s roof, parking lot, and roadways, as well as upgrades to the pedestrian tunnel and station kiosks.
Other projects include improvements to transportation aids like the north escalator and Garaventa lifts.
MP Mark Gerretsen was on hand to make the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport.
“These improvements to VIA Rail’s Kingston station are an important investment in ensuring that the needs of passengers are met from the moment they arrive at the station to the time that they reach their destination.” says MP Gerretsen.
Kingston mayor Bryan Paterson and Yves Desjardins-Siciliano, President and CEO at Via Rail, were also on hand for the announcement.
