Freezing Rain Warning Prompts School Bus Cancellation

Another freezing rin warning euqaled another snow day for students who take the bus to school in the Kingston area.

Shortly before 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, all buses with Triboard Student Transportation Services were cancelled due to freezing rain in the afternoon forecast.

That marked the fourth snow day of 2017 which coincidently have all been Tuesdays, prompting Kingstonians to coin the hashtag #TriboardTuesday on social media.

Environment Canada is predicting some nasty winter weather as ice pellets or flurries are forecast to start before lunch on Tuesday with freezing rain expected to bein falling around 1:00 p.m.

Meteorologists say we could see ice accumulation on roads, sidewalks, parking lots which could make afternoon travel tricky.

Ice build up on trees may also mean broken branches that could bring down power lines.

The freezing rain is forecast to continue overnight, possibly into Wednesday morning when temperatures rise above freezing.
