Impaired Woman Arrested After Narrowly Missing Police Cruiser

An Elgin woman, 23, faces impaired driving charges after she narrowly missed hitting a police cruiser while nodding off behind the wheel on Wednesday.

Around 1:15 a.m, police got a call about a female driver bouncing off the curbs while driving northbound on Sir John A. near Bath Road.

The officer that eventually pulled her over says they witnessed the accused nod off and drift into the cruisers lane, forcing the officer to slam on their breaks to vaoid a collision.

She was taken to police headquarter where she blew nearly four times over the legal limit.

The officer discovered empty beer cans and a partially drunk bottle of liquor within the vehicle.

She was charged with impaired driving and operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol.

Her licence was automatically suspended for 90 days, her vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days, and she was released with a future court date.
