Kingston Police Hand out 40 Tickets on St. Patrick's Day

Kingston Police arrested six people, laid one criminal charge, and handed out more than 40 tickets to festive revelers on St Patrick's Day this year.

Like usual, people flocked to the University District to party and a portion of Aberdeen Street had to be shut down around noon.

Police broke up the party by 4:00 p.m. and cleared the street for traffic.

During the peak of the partying on Friday, at least eight people were reportedly taken to hospital, mostly for being too drunk.

Kingston Police had set up a command centre on Queen's Campus in Flemming Hall to closely monitor the festivities, which in previous years have had a tendancy to get out of hand.

Overall, police say the crowds were well behaved during the day and thankfully there were no serious incidents.
