Kingston's Fire Training Centre Tops City Council Agenda

Kingston Fire and Rescue's training grounds could become more open to the public following Tuesday nights City Council meeting.

Councillors will discuss and vote on a recommendation to expand the use of the 24-acre training centre to allow private companies to rent out the facility to generate some extra revenue for the city.

The report also suggests allowing other regional fire services and community colleges to train on-site.

The training area on Terry Fox Drive opened in 2013 and includes a six story burn tower.

In addition to Kingston Fire and Rescue's use of the site, Kingston Police, St Lawrence College, and Goodyear Canada have all used the space.
