LDSB Cuts Costs with Design Changes for New Highschool
Design plans have changed a little bit for the new "super" highschool site.
At their April meeting, the Limestone District School Board learned the Ministry of Education approved the design and $36-million budget for the intermediate/secondary school to be built on the old QECVI site on Kirkpatrick Street, adjacent to the new Molly Brant Elementary School.
The design plans required some adjustments to meet the budget, which included scrapping the round library, a skylight, and the relocation of some classrooms.
The next step is to collect bids from construction companies interested in the project with the goal is to have construction begin this summer and be completed for the 2019-2020 school year.
The hope is to have construction companies on board and finalized by May or June.
An integration committee has also been established to being the process of naming the school, choosing school colours, and a mascot.
