Local Man Charged with Domestic Abuse

A Kingston man, 22, faces 17 charges including assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and forcible confinement after his domestic partner went to police for help.

The woman told officers the abuse started in October and that the man had struck her and her two young children on multiple occasions, even hitting her once with a metal broom handle.

She told police that he had used the same broom handle to break her television, and had put holes in her walls with his fists and a hatchet.

The victim says she tried to leave the relationship on multiple occasions, but he wouldn't let her and threatened to kill her if she ever broke up with him.

Police arrested man on Wednesday and held him for a bail hearing Thursday on 9 counts of Assault , assault with a weapon, 3 counts of uttering threats, 2 counts of forcible confinement, and 2 counts of mischief under $5000.
