Man Arrested Following Human Trafficking Investigation

An Quinte West man, 18, faces multiple charges for allegedly recruiting young Kingston girls as escorts.

Kingston Police and Port Hope Police launched a human trafficking investigation on Valentines Day and discovered the man had been sending text messages to two local 16 year-old girls.

Police say he promised them a new life with lots of money, shopping trips, clothing, dinners, alcohol and marijuana if they followed his business plan.

On March 12, Police say one of the girls took the bait and ran away from home around 1:00 a.m.

The girl was able to contact her mother using a Play Station 3 around 9:30 a.m. that same day saying she had no phone, she was in Port Hope, and wanted to get away from the accused.

Port Hope police showed up at the man's address around 1:15 p.m., rescuing the girl around and arresting the man.

He is charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement, two counts of procuring persons under 18 for sexual services, and two counts of breach recognizance.
