Mild Wet Weather Prompts Extended Water Safety Statement

The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority has extended their water safety statement due to above normal temperatures and lots of rain in the forecast.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Kingston and the area on Monday calling for between 15 and 25 millimeters of rain overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

When you combine the water levels from melting snow and ice with the forecasted precipitation, the CRCA says we could definitely see some localized flooding in low lying areas or in places that have poor drainage; however wide spread flooding is not expected.

Due to higher than normal water levels, the CRCA is also urging everyone to stay off of lake and pond ice, and to steer clear from unpredictable, cold, and deep fast flowing watercourses like rivers and streams.
