OPP Discharge Weapon During Traffic Stop Thursday Evening
The westbound 401 was closed for several hours Thursday night for a traffic stop that turned into a criminal investigation.
Leeds OPP say they received a driving complaint around 5:00 p.m. about the suspect's vehicle and attempted to pull over the driver, who refused, which escalated into a full-on pursuit.
A spike belt was deployed but unsuccessful in stopping the suspects.
OPP eventually used a rolling blockade technique to box in the suspect vehicle, ending the chase east of the Long Beach exit to County Road 2 around 6:30 p.m.
Police arrested two suspects and one of them was treated for a minor self-inflicted injury.
The highway was re-opened around 11:00 p.m. following a criminal investigation.
OPP say officers did discharge a weapon during the incident, but that no one was hit.
Details on the charges against the suspects remains unkown.
