Police Investigating Bomb Hoax at Government Building

Kingston Police Major Crimes detectives are investigating following a bomb threat at 279 Wellington Street on Thursday.

Police say someone left a threatening voicemail of a staff member of the court, warning of a bomb in the cafeteria of the building that houses both the Ministry of Health and the Provincial Court.

Shortly after 10:00 a.m. the building was evacuated and searched.

No bomb was found and the threat was deemed a hoax.

Police declared the area safe around 12:30 p.m. and began allowing people to return to work.

Major crime will continue to investigate the incident and criminal charges will be laid when they find out who was responsible.
