Prison Staff Seize Contraband from Visitor

Roughly $32,000 worth of contraband was confiscated from a visitor to the Medium Security Unit at Collins Bay Institution, Tuesday night.

Staff say they seized multiple packages containing tobacco and marijuana.

The visitor was arrested by the Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad and may face criminal charges.

The Correctional Service of Canada uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions including ion scanners and drug-detector dogs.

The CSC says they are heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions to maintain a safe and secure environment for everyone.
