Notice to Vacate Posted at Fairfield Manor East

For the second time this week, Kingston Fire and Rescue has posted a 'notice to vacate' at Fairfield Manor Retirement Residence, this time at its east end location.

"We have made extraordinary efforts to work with the buildings' owner to ensure the fire safety for these vulnerable residents without success," says Deputy Chief Kevin Donaldson.

"Compliance with the Ontario Fire Code remains the responsibility of the owner."

Kingston Fire and Rescue will remain on site while the South East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) continues to relocate 23 residents.

The move follows Monday's notice posted at Fairfield's west location after concerns were raised about the safety of the residents.

All nine people at the west site were relocated on the weekend.

Last Friday, the owner of Fairfield Manor Retirement Residence was charged for failing to comply with fire safety regulations applicable to buildings containing vulnerable occupants.
