Occupancy Permit Granted for 630 Princess Street

An occupancy permit has been issued for a new apartment complex, and residents are now able to move in.

On Friday, some students were left scrambling to find a place to live after the building on 630 Princess Street didn't meet the minimum requirements set out in the Ontario building code.

"Staff re-inspected the property and have issued an occupancy permit for the residential units," says Lisa Capener-Hunt, chief building official.

"The property owner is now working with tenants to plan the moves into the building."

The City will continue working with the owner, Stelmach Project Management Ltd., to complete unoccupied areas of the building, which is 31 units with 93 bedrooms.
