October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
1215 people took part in the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday at St. Lawrence College.
$205,660.80 was raised to support breast cancer research, support programs, health education, and advocacy initiatives.
Organizers do expect more money to trickle in over the coming weeks.
The Queen's Men's Rugby team once again raised the most money, collecting over $22,800 in donations.
To kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, City Hall and Springer Market Square will be illuminated Pink, Monday at dusk.
Eployees and supporters with the Canadian Cancer Society, along with community partners, will come together around 7:00 p.m. to mark the occasion.
Everyone is welcome to attend the illumination, and are encouraged to wear pink, and bring a tealight or own personal memento, to remember those who have lost their battle with cancer.
