Picton Man Convicted of Animal Cruelty
A Picton man, 27, has received a 10-year ban on owning animals after being convicted of animal cruelty.
The Ontario SPCA says an officer went to a property in January after getting a report about an animal in distress.
While on location, the officer found an emaciated Rottweiler-type dog that had to be euthanized due to kidney disease and other ailments.
Wesley Adam McGrayne, who pleaded guilty to permitting distress to an animal, received two years probation in addition to the 10-year ban on owning animals.
The judge in the case said he'd make an exception so that McGrayne could keep his two cats, but he'll be subject to inspections and must produce records to show the cats are receiving veterinary care.
