Plows Out in Full Force Monday Morning
Snowy conditions in our region caused some chaos on the roads and highways Sunday.
Here in Kingston, about 15 to 20 centimetres of snow fell in less than 24 hours but only about half a dozen accidents were reported by Kingston Police.
No local school buses were canceled but east of Kingston, school bus and special transportation has been canceled for the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario and the Upper Canada District School Board.
According to the Ministry of Transportation, area highways are partly snow covered and a few collisions were reported on the 401 through the Belleville area early Monday morning, where a slew of school buses were also canceled.
As of 9:30 a.m., the right shoulder and right lane on the westbound 401 at Marysville were still blocked due to an early morning collision.
OPP responded to more than 400 collisions in the Greater Toronto Area alone on Sunday but say almost all of them were preventable because many drivers did not adjust to the road conditions.
