Retired Teacher Guilty of Historic Sex Assaults

A retired school teacher, 75, on trial for historic sex related assaults involving teenaged boys, has been convicted on two of the three charges he was facing.

After 10 hours of deliberations, the jury handed down their verdict Thursday morning for the long time OHL billet, Neil Joynt.

He was found guilty of two incidents of indecent assault; one that took place at his parents home in 1962 and another while camping in the mid 1970s.

Joynt was acquitted of a sexual assault charge from the early 1980s.

He was charged in 2013 and 2014 with sex related offenses involving young boys, who are now in their late 40's, 50's, and 60.

Joynt worked at Winston Churchill Public School in the early 1960s before he left the country to teach in France.

He will appear in court at the end of January to set a date for sentencing.
