School Bus Safety Reminders

Once again it is time for students to head back to school, and for motorists to be on the lookout for school buses and excited students.

You are being reminded that while meeting a stopped school bus that has its overhead red signal-lights flashing, you have to stop before reaching the bus, and can't continue your journey until the bus moves or the overhead red lights have stopped flashing.

Be alert and prepared to stop or face $400 to $2000 fine and 6 demerit points.

There will also be an increase in pedestrian traffic as kids make their way to class, so Police are asking that you reduce your speed in school zones and to be extra cautious.

Police recommend giving yourself extra time to get to work,  and to be on the lookout for excited students that may forget the rules of the road.
